International law firm Bird & Bird has advised Cosmobilis Group, a European automobility platform, on the conclusion of a long-term strategic partnership and a €50 million investment by Macif, France's leading motor insurance provider, in the group's share capital.
Established in 2021 through the convergence of bee2link group's digital expertise, ByMyCar's network capabilities and the rental company UCAR, Cosmobilis Group has established itself as a leading automobility player in France and Europe. Its global SaaS platform connects all key players in the automotive sector (manufacturers, distributors, banks, partners, etc.) and generates over 1.2 million automotive transactions and 7.2 million workshop appointments per year, whilst managing 250,000 rental vehicles. The group employs 4,700 people and generates €3.8 billion in revenue across its international operations.
This strategic partnership with Macif, France's leading vehicle insurer, aims to accelerate Cosmobilis Group's development by building a comprehensive ecosystem dedicated to simpler, more accessible and integrated mobility. By combining their respective strengths and expertise, the two partners now offer a seamless and integrated customer journey encompassing purchase, rental, insurance and repair. The agreement is structured around three pillars: the distribution of Macif insurance directly through Cosmobilis Group's branches, access to tailored mobility solutions for Macif's 600,000 members including the sale and financing of new or used vehicles, and the development of automotive repair initiatives to optimise costs and improve after-sales service quality.
Bird & Bird advised Cosmobilis Group alongside Efficience (Ludovic Giraud, Gessyca Nicklin and Cendrine Mathieu) with a team comprising partner David Malcoiffe, counsels Marine Besson and Lionel Berthelet, as well as associates Pierre Guigue and Lara Fizaine.
