“Everything that is law” is entering its second round. This time, we will be addressing and discussing the hot legal topics: AI in small and medium-sized enterprises, how to enforce patents at European level, and how project financing in the field of renewable energies in Germany can be structured. Further information on the topics can be found below.
In the three topic hubs, you can expect short keynote speeches on the above-mentioned legal topics, which can then be discussed and explored in depth over drinks and finger food.

AI is everywhere and seems to be revolutionising companies and working environments. We outline practical application scenarios for AI in SMEs and take a look at the legal challenges that are increasing, not least with the AI Regulation. Using clear examples, you will learn everything you need to know to use AI safely and in compliance with the law. Together, we will explore which measures will help you unlock the full potential of AI without overlooking legal pitfalls.
Speaker: Dr. Miriam Ballhausen from Bird & Bird
Patents are an important means of protecting your own innovations – but to do so, you must also be able to enforce them effectively against competitors. But how? Two years ago, a new court was established: the Unified Patent Court. This court offers the possibility of preventing the cross-border sale of patent-infringing goods with a single decision. In our presentation, we would like to give you a better understanding of how the new forum works and the European patent system as a whole. We will show you ways to effectively enforce your rights and explain what you need to bear in mind as a defendant before this new court.
Speakers: Dr Annika Lückemann and Dr Felix Harbsmeier from Bird & Bird
Everyone is talking about the energy transition, and the energy needs of companies in Germany are growing steadily. Institutional investors are desperately seeking investment opportunities in so-called ‘safe harbours,’ which include infrastructure and renewable energy projects in particular. On the other hand, the developers of such projects have an ever-increasing need for financing. Using the example of a photovoltaic project (ground-mounted or rooftop system), the presentation will explain the basics of structuring such project financing.
Speaker: Dr Gregor Jentsch from Bird & Bird
