News and data platform Clean Energy Pipeline has recently launched its ‘Clean Energy Legal League Tables 2021’. Clean Energy Legal League Tables ranks the world’s Top 20 Law Firms that acted as legal adviser on Clean Energy Project Finance and M&A Deals in 2020.

The law firms featured in this report advised companies and investors on global renewable energy project developments and technologies, including Solar, Onshore/Offshore Wind, Energy Storage, Hydro, Geothermal, Grid Infrastructure, Energy Efficiency, Green Hydrogen, Green Transportation, Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), Biofuels, Biomass, and Waste-to-Energy.

Our Energy & Utilities Sector Group has been ranked number 1 globally in the ‘Top 20 Legal Advisers by Number of M&A Deals’ category, based on the number of deals done in 2020. We were also ranked 5th in the Project Finance category by number of deals.

Matt Bonass, Chair and Co-Head of our Energy & Utilities sector group commented: “We are delighted to once again be ranked number 1 Globally for the number of M&A deals completed in 2020, and to be recognised in the top 5 for Project Finance. We advised on 90 M&A transactions in the course of the year which is almost three times as many as the second placed firm. The recipe for this success is simple: it is the strength of our energy team across our network of offices, all of which have contributed to this fantastic result.”
