Bird & Bird's Finnish team advised HYY Group on its acquisition of the historical Seurahuone building from Sponda, a major property investor held by Blackstone. The Bird & Bird team was led by Managing Partner in Finland, Jaakko Hietala.
Seurahuone building is a cultural heritage site and the oldest building that has been continuously used for hotel business in Helsinki. With this acquisition, the historical block at the heart of Helsinki, Kaivopiha, will be largely restored to its original purpose, as HYY Group expands its hotel business to parts of the New Student House.
