With dual qualifications as an engineer and an attorney I am well suited to handle complex and high tech patent litigation cases. As a U.S. lawyer as well as a French lawyer, and UPC representative, I am uniquely positioned to help our clients coordinate cross-border litigations.
I have experience working with a wide range of complex technologies including aircraft engines, automotive systems, wireless and cellular communications, and implanted medical devices, to name a few. I am always enthusiastic about learning new technologies and helping clients protect their innovation.
I studied mechanical engineering in my undergraduate studies, and aerospace engineering in my graduate studies. I then worked as a U.S patent agent for two years, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, before attending law school. While in law school I worked as both a patent agent and technical advisor, prosecuting and managing large patent portfolios to ensure consistent positions across multiple jurisdictions. As one example I managed a portfolio of 250+ patent applications for a medical device company based in the U.S. and in Germany. In connection with my prosecution work I also contributed to diligence and freedom to operate projects.
In 2016 I shifted my practice to litigation. Between 2016 and 2023 I worked on post-grant proceedings at the USPTO (IPRs) and on ITC and district court litigation in Delaware, California, Texas and Massachusetts, to name a few. Litigations I worked on have included both patents and trade secrets, with a wide range of technologies including for example optical transport networks, artificial intelligence, and heart valve prostheses. Several of these litigations involved cross-border cooperation, with parallel litigations taking place in Europe.
In parallel to my U.S. practice, I gained experience with European prosecution and supplemented my legal training in France, both in substantive patent law and in how to manage and value IP. I am a UPC representative and had the privilege to be involved in one of the first cases in front of the new jurisdiction.
My thorough technical background and expertise in all stages of litigation, combined with my experience in cross-border global litigations allows me to navigate complex technologies and craft global IP protection strategies for our clients.
