We advised a multinational software corporation, one of the leading European Tech companies, on various landmark and business critical projects in the context of its journey from on-premise to cloud, including the use of data for AI and machine learning and its cloud infrastructure deals, involving three of the biggest cloud deals in Europe ever.

We advised a core blockchain infrastructure company, on a range of blockchain software development deals including drafting and negotiation of a key software development agreement for the development of software to be used to set up and launch a new blockchain protocol and a contract for writing an existing blockchain protocol into another programming language.

Advising Medtech start-up Biofourmis on the deployment of its AI-driven remote monitoring platform to observe patients in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UK who are diagnosed with COVID-19. The programme aimed to provide disease surveillance by remotely monitoring quarantined individuals with suspected Covid-19 and detecting the signs of disease development as well as remotely monitoring the diagnosed cases to understand how the virus affects humans. The data privacy aspect of this transaction involved the sharing of sensitive medical data with hospitals and regulators in an emergency scenario and also data anonymization so that data sets can be mined to understand the effectiveness of vaccines during clinical trials.

Advising a US Tech Multinational in relation with the legal aspects of the use of image datasets for the purpose of training artificial intelligence models in Europe. Our advice included an analysis of the copyright law, database law, contract law and international private law principles applicable in the European Union to the use of image datasets in order to train artificial intelligence models for business purposes. Our advice was based mainly on applicable EU law, with further developments based on domestic law of certain member-states. In addition to an analysis of the applicable legal principles, we also proposed several strategies to avoid and mitigate risks related to the use of image datasets by our client. This matter perfectly illustrates our capability to render cutting-edge advice in new technological fields.

Advising a US multinational telecommunications conglomerate on its telematics strategy within the EMEA region, namely that of becoming the market leader for systems and products in the area of connected vehicles/fleet management. We have been providing the client with support in relation to this strategy relating to multi-jurisdictional product compliance checks in the area of telematics for geolocalization and dashcams, partly as a legal-tech based compliance complex for all telematic data generated and provided by fleet customers. We also advised on data protection in the telematics sector as connected vehicles touch on a variety of critical data protection issues which is particularly challenging as it affects the perspective of the contract processor.
