Barbora Prokop

I am a lawyer and UPC representative in Bird & Bird's IP practice group and am based in Düsseldorf. I advise our national and international clients on a wide range of patent-related matters across multiple industries, in particular in patent litigations before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and the national German Courts.

I studied English law at Queen Mary University of London and German Law at Heinrich-Heine University of Düsseldorf. Subsequently, I undertook my postgraduate legal training in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf and completed the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

My interest in intellectual property law developed early on during my LL.B. course which I then deepened during my major subject, intellectual property and competition law at the Düsseldorf university. During my legal training, I worked for the German Embassy in Prague and gained experience in antitrust law at an international US law firm in Düsseldorf and New York.

I now specialize in patent litigation, particularly before the UPC, which will fundamentally shape the European patent litigation landscape.
