Darveenia Rajula Rajah

I am an associate in Bird & Bird's Aviation and Aerospace Practice Group and Financial Regulatory Group, based in Singapore. I work on a broad range of finance and leasing transactions in the aviation sector. I also assist on regulatory and compliance matters across the financial services sector.

I was admitted to the Singapore bar in July 2018 and since then, I have worked in both private practice and in-house roles.

I initially began my legal career in a dispute resolution practice and after 2.5 years, moved to a legal role in the public service sector. At the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), I provided legal advice and creative solutions on supervisory and regulatory issues, especially related to banking and insurance. Eventually, I returned to private practice, my true calling.

Prior to my recent move into the aviation finance practice area, my practice focused on ship financing as well as corporate / transactional aspects of shipping work. I was regularly involved in ship loan transactions, sale and purchase and sale & lease back arrangements, acting for both ship financing banks and ship owners.

Having been exposed to asset finance in relation to shipping, I have now delved into another area, aviation finance. I enjoy the collaborative nature of corporate work and working together with our clients to achieve their goals. The sense of accomplishment that is attained from closing a deal and witnessing the client's satisfaction is unmatched.
