Dr. Benedikt Burger

I am a partner in our Frankfurt office and a member of the Dispute Resolution practice group.

I have been advising clients in international litigation and arbitration proceedings for over 20 years. Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked for renowned, international law firms.

My clients are mainly international business enterprises state-owned corporations, mid-size companies or entrepreneurs in complex, mostly crossborder disputes. My practice comprises legal disputes in the areas of post-M&A, corporate law, joint ventures, construction projects, (long-term) supply contracts, distribution contracts as well as restructuring/insolvency.

I have acted as counsel in ad-hoc-proceedings as well as arbitration proceedings under the auspices of leading arbitration institutions (ICC, DIS, ASA, SCC, LCIA) in many arbitration proceedings. I regularly represent foreign clients in proceedings before the state courts. I advise on distressed situations and in insolvency law. I regularly advise insolvency receivers and main creditors in the enforcement of their claims as well as in the enforcement of decisions of state courts or arbitral tribunals in Germany or abroad.

Many of my clients come from the automotive industry as well as the energy and utilities sector and I represent clients from Spanish-speaking countries on a regular basis.

I am a member of the board of directors of the ILEX (International Litigation Exchange) and a member of the Frankfurt Arbitration Circle as well as the DIS. In addition, I frequently give presentations on topics related to dispute resolution.
