Marcello Torrisi

I am an Italian Patent Attorney working in the Bird & Bird Intellectual Property department based in Milan. In particular, I have developed experience in drafting and prosecuting Italian, European and international patent applications, in prior art searches and in performing freedom to implement (FTO) analysis in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector.

I graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Milan with a thesis entitled 'Development of high-sensitivity fluorescence microarrays for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases' and I am a qualified pharmacist.

After working as an IP Counsel at a technology transfer company, I joined Bird & Bird in October 2022. In November 2022, I obtained the professional qualification to practice as an industrial property consultant in the field of patents in Italy.

Throughout my career, I have developed experience in evaluating possible IP protection strategies at national and international level, in prior art searches, and in performing freedom to implement (FTO) analysis in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields. I also cooperate with colleagues (patent attorneys and lawyers) in patent litigations procedures.
