Matti Kuokkanen

As a senior associate at Bird & Bird in Helsinki, I advise our clients on matters relating to capital markets, finance, corporate law and corporate transactions.

I am a member of our international Corporate and M&A group. I regularly advise our domestic and international clients on corporate transactions and day-to-day corporate matters. I am frequently involved in assignments relating to financing, regulatory advisory of financial institutions and capital markets.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as legal counsel for a pension insurance company, my main responsibilities included the legal and compliance matters of its investment unit. During that period, I was involved in the execution of numerous investment transactions for an institutional investor within the whole scope of asset classes, e.g., securities, derivatives, funds and real property, and in implementation processes of new regulation. My responsibilities also covered insider matters. Due to my background, I have a good understanding of the needs of in-house legal teams.
