Paula González Alarcón

I am a junior associate in our Competition & EU Law practice in Belgium. My practice covers a wide range of EU and Spanish competition law matters.

I advise clients on a wide variety of both EU and Spanish competition law issues, including cartel investigations, abuse of dominance, State aid, merger control, unfair commercial practices and damages actions. In this context, I have gained extensive expertise assisting clients in antitrust (i.e. cartel and abuse of dominance cases) and merger control proceedings before the Spanish Competition Authority (CNMC) and the European Commission.

I thrive on providing clients with high-quality legal advice, characterised by attention to detail. I always think on the behalf of the client to ensure I provide them with a business-friendly legal advice with creative and thorough solutions to their complex legal matters.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2023, I worked for a top-tier Spanish boutique law firm specialised in EU and Spanish competition law. I also gained valuable legal experience by completing a Blue Book traineeship at the Legal Service of the European Commission (AFFAIR team) and through a traineeship at the Legal Counsel of one of the biggest worldwide e-commerce online platforms.

I am a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
