Suvi Kurki-Suonio

I am a senior associate in our Real Estate & Infrastructure group in Helsinki. I specialize in energy and environmental law.

My areas of expertise include environmental protection, water, waste and nature conservation legislation as well as construction and land use planning legislation. I have experience in permitting procedures related to energy, industrial and circular economy projects. I have had, inter alia, wind and solar power plants, hydrogen plants, waste treatment and waste incineration facilities as well as bio product plants as clients. I assist clients in permitting and land use planning related administrative processes as well as administrative court proceedings, in addition to which I advise on projects' permitting strategy and various types of real estate matters related to project development. I have also a lot of experience in DD processes in relation to renewable energy transactions and finance. Furthermore, I advise clients on waste taxation related issues.

I am also experienced as an in-house legal counsel in the renewable energy sector. Therefore, I have a realistic view of how industrial and energy projects are advanced in practice. I approach assignments in a pragmatic manner and listed to the client's wishes and needs carefully. I strive to find creative solutions to challenging situations that also work in practice.
