Implementation Status

The Swedish Government has recently shared its updated proposal to implement the Directive into local law. As expected, the proposal largely mirrors the Directive and contains few surprises.  It is proposed that the legislative changes will come into force on 1 July 2026.  As a next step, the Council will comment on the proposal and it is expected that Parliament will vote on the final bill on 17 March 2026.
