I am a partner in our Düsseldorf office where I am head of our German dispute resolution team, and a member of our international Dispute Resolution Practice Group, representing clients in complex litigation and arbitration matters.

The franchising industry, which is characterised by dynamic and international relationships, requires special approaches and an expert understanding of conflict resolution - this also applies to alternative dispute resolution methods. From the qualification of arbitrators to international freedom of choice and neutrality, the challenges are manifold.

Against this background, the German Arbitration Institute (DIS) and Bird & Bird, under the leadership of partner Dr Jiri Jaeger and Eric Bartoletti, supported by DIS Secretary General Dr Ramona Schardt, have established the DIS Franchise Group to promote the potential of alternative dispute resolution methods in franchising and to further develop current methods and approaches in practice.

Actively shaping the legal framework

As a platform designed for the regular exchange of experience, the DIS Franchise Group brings together experts and decision-makers from the franchise industry with the intent of exchanging experiences, critically examining current practices, and establishing the use of alternative dispute resolution methods (arbitration, mediation, etc.) in franchising.

Your participation

The initiative is aimed at all players in the franchising industry who would like to make an active contribution to ensuring that alternative dispute resolution methods become the standard in the event of conflict in franchise partnerships in German-speaking countries.

Participation in the DIS Franchise Group is free of charge and does not require any special membership. As a participant, you will benefit from a network of experts from business and law, in which you will have the opportunity to contribute your perspectives, learn from best practices and help shape pioneering methods.

For more information and if you are interested in participating, please contact Dr. Jiri Jaeger.
