The Moroccan authorities have launched a tender for the Noor Midelt III solar project, which involves a capacity of 400 MW and is expected to be paired with a 400 MWh storage battery system.

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) has launched a tender for the Noor Midelt III project – a 400 MW photovoltaic power plant that will be connected to a 400 MWh storage battery.

The agency stated that the project will increase the solar capacity of the Noor Midelt project to 1.6 GW, as the development also includes the Noor Midelt I and Noor Midelt II solar power plants.

Interested developers will have until October 20th to prequalify for the tender.

As a reminder, Masen published in July the list of the 24 competing bidders for the construction of the Noor Midelt II project, which will be built in the Drâa-Tafilalet region in the northeast of Morocco. The park will have a capacity of 400 MW and will be equipped with a battery with two hours of storage.

On the other hand, the Noor Midelt I power plant is an 800 MW solar plant combining CSP and PV with a storage capacity of 5 hours. It will be constructed and operated by EDF Renewables (35%), Abu Dhabi Future Energy CO (30%), Masen itself (25%), and Green Of Africa (10%).

Please get in contact with us if you are interested in participating in the tender, and would like any assistance.
