Key trends in the space and satellite sector

World Space Business Week 2024, held in Paris from 16 to 20 September, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of the satellite industry. This year’s event highlighted several key trends shaping the sector.

Market competition

Discussions around market competition and the state of the commercial space market were prevalent throughout the week. While Starlink’s market share and the major industry consolidations taking place underscored much of the dialogue, conversations throughout the week also highlighted the expanding market and predictions of growth. From a finance perspective, the sector continues to attract investors and financiers, though there is an overarching sense of caution and many are looking for robust business plans, growth rates and exit plans.
