D&I Year in Review 2025

We are pleased to share our D&I Year in Review 2025, highlighting some of the key initiatives and progress across our firm over the past year. The report reflects how our offices and teams continue embedding inclusion into everyday working life through training, programmes, networks and locally led activity across our international offices. A key milestone this year was the launch of Wellbeing @ Birds, our global approach to supporting healthy and sustainable working practices. Wellbeing @ Birds brings together resources, policies and support across mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing. As part of this, we expanded our network of Mental Health First Aiders internationally, ensuring trained colleagues are available in every office to provide initial support and guidance.

We ran another successful iteration of the Global Women’s Development Programme, bringing together a new cohort of women lawyers from across our international offices. Since its launch, more than 230 women have participated, with many progressing into senior roles including Legal Director, Counsel and Partner.

The Inspire Programme also ran for a second time, supporting in-house lawyers within client organisations at similar career stages.

Across our offices, Culture Club sessions continued to grow in reach, creating informal spaces for colleagues to explore thought-provoking content and share perspectives through open conversation. Our employee networks, including Embrace, Beyond Backgrounds, StandOUT, NeuroNetwork and our Faith Groups, remained active in raising awareness, celebrating diversity and providing community across the firm.

Local offices also led impactful initiatives throughout the year. Highlights included our Frankfurt team joining Christopher Street Day parade to celebrate Pride with other law firms, the Career Impact Programme in London supporting ethnically and racially diverse associates, workshops on invisible disabilities in France, LGBTQIA+ student engagement in Belgium and the Netherlands, school outreach in Finland, and emotional resilience training in Hong Kong.

Finally, we strengthened how we drive progress at leadership level through the formation of the Responsible Business Committee, bringing together D&I, wellbeing, community impact, pro bono and sustainability under one unified structure to support more joined-up decision-making and clearer accountability.

We’re proud of the progress made this year and grateful to colleagues across our offices who continue to bring these efforts to life every day.
