Cedric Berckmans

I am a partner in our Corporate and Commercial practice in Brussels, where I combine my deep understanding of contractual issues with a pragmatic approach to challenging situations.

I advise both national and international clients during the whole process of negotiating, structuring and closing corporate and commercial partnership agreements. In addition to my work on corporate and contractual matters, I have extensive experience in dispute resolution involving court proceedings and arbitration, as well as in insolvency law. I also advise on risk mitigation and pre-trial strategies. My areas of expertise cover issues relating to financial difficulties as well as rescue or restructuring initiatives.

I am the author of many articles in professional legal journals and have written an extensive manual on liquidation proceedings - 'De vereffeningsprocedure' - under Belgian law. Before joining Bird & Bird in 2012, I worked in another Brussels law firm and taught law courses at the University of Leuven.
