I am an associate in Bird & Bird's Food & Beverage practice in Brussels, where I advise clients on food law and regulatory matters.
My practice focuses on helping food and beverage companies navigate regulatory compliance across the EU. I work on general food law and labelling, as well as specialised areas including novel foods, nutritional and health claims, food contact materials, and food supplements. Whether you are launching a new product, expanding into new markets, or addressing regulatory challenges, I provide practical guidance tailored to your business needs.
I assist clients with market entry strategies, product classification, and compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle—from production and distribution to packaging and marketing. This includes advising on food additives, labelling requirements, fortified foods, food for specific groups, organic food, packaging waste and recyclability, and incident management when regulatory issues arise.
Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked at a Belgian law firm where I advised clients on food law matters and developed experience in administrative and commercial litigation. This background enables me to provide advice that considers not only regulatory requirements but also potential enforcement scenarios and dispute resolution strategies.
I believe effective client relationships are built on understanding your commercial objectives and providing clear, responsive advice. I work collaboratively with in-house teams and external stakeholders to develop solutions that support your business goals whilst ensuring regulatory compliance.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Economic Law from the Université libre de Bruxelles, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in IP & ICT Law from KU Leuven. I have also completed the food law course provided by the Food Law Academy, which keeps me current with developments in this rapidly evolving field. During my studies, I spent six months as an exchange student at Peking University in China.
I am fluent in Dutch, French, and English, which allows me to work effectively with clients across different jurisdictions and linguistic regions.
