Grace Zhao

I'm a senior associate in our Corporate Group based in Shanghai, specialising in corporate and commercial matters with a particular focus on the retail and consumer, technology, and hospitality sectors.

I have extensive experience in general corporate matters and PRC-related cross-border transactions. I've advised numerous multinational clients on their expansion into China through foreign direct investment and mergers and acquisitions. I also support clients with regulatory and compliance matters.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as an in-house lawyer for a leading international luxury hotel chain in China, and prior to that, I was part of the corporate teams at international law firms. My in-house background and deep understanding of the fast-evolving commercial landscape in consumer-facing industries in China have proven valuable to clients.

I hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Leicester (UK), a Master of Laws degree from Northwestern University (USA), and a Bachelor of Economics degree from East China Normal University (China).
