About Me

I am a British and European patent attorney in our Intellectual Property group in London. I am involved with UK patent infringement actions relating to standard essential patents (SEPs), FRAND setting litigation and globally coordinated litigation, as well as SEP essentiality reviews and valuation. I am also authorised to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) that opened in Europe in June 2023.

I bring clients an in-depth knowledge of patents, with a view to litigation and licensing, with a particular focus on standard essential patents for mobile telecommunications and healthcare patents. I work primarily in the fields of telecoms/software/electronic engineering.

My specialties include advising clients on all aspects of patent protection, including litigation as well as drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications, oppositions, revocation actions, freedom to operate searches and validity and infringement opinions, in particular to support licence negotiations. I am experienced in all aspects of patent prosecution before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office and also have extensive experience of patent prosecution globally.

I have significant experience relating to patents in the fields of mobile telecommunications (GSM, 3G, 4G, LTE, 5G and onwards); software; UI; video coding, transmission and conferencing; speech and speaker recognition; neural networks, ML and AI; healthcare; electronic devices and semiconductor technology; data transmission systems; image processing; and other software systems.

My experience in-house makes me particularly aware of the commercial and practical needs of my clients.

I have worked with a wide variety of sectors ranging from private individuals to SMEs through to blue-chip multinational corporations. To all my work I bring my substantial experience in the corporate sector, providing commercial understanding as well as technical and legal insight.
