Maria Karpathakis

I work as a senior associate in our international Competition & EU Law team, advising on Finnish and EU competition law as well as Finnish FDI regulation and Finnish gambling law.

As a part of our Competition & EU law team, I advise global and Finnish clients on a broad spectrum of competition law matters, including general competition law and regulatory compliance, as well as merger control, antitrust and prohibited practices. Since joining the firm in March 2022, I have been involved for instance in cartel investigations and cross-border transactions, and have advised on information exchange rules, state aid and supply and distribution arrangements. Additionally, I assist in Finnish FDI screening processes.

As part of our global gambling law team, I advise both international and Finnish clients in gambling-related matters such as marketing restrictions and other regulatory processes. Additionally, I assist in preparatory arrangements and in the licensing process once licences for online gambling are applicable in Finland.

I am committed to delivering high quality legal advice to our clients. I have a background in antitrust procedures as well as in business development, helping to understand client's perspective and to provide with legal guidance that is both practical and strategic, offering innovative and comprehensive solutions to complex legal issues.

I work fluently in Finnish and in English, in addition I have a limited working proficiency in German, Greek and Swedish.
