I am a projects and regulatory partner and Chair and Co-Head of International Energy & Utilities Sector Group focused on energy innovation. My work has taken me around the globe.
I help the public sector create and implement innovative energy regulation and policy to change behaviour. This in turn stimulates investment and increases private sector commercial opportunities created by innovative energy regulation, policy and market drivers.
This has enabled greater choice for key stakeholders by increasing the availability of a diverse energy generation mix, both in terms of technology (predominately renewables) and location (decentralised, centralised and cross-border); energy efficiency/productivity solutions; and data and communication infrastructure serving the energy sector.
In addition to the environmental and social benefits, this also stimulates economic benefits including infrastructure investment, R&D and the growth of disruptive business models.
I am: co-editor of 'Renewables: A Practical Handbook' (2010) an international legal, commercial and technical renewable guide; a chapter in the Institute of Director's book 'Clean Tech Clean Profit' (2014) providing guidance to organisations on how they procure low carbon, renewable and energy management solutions; and co-author of the electricity regulatory chapter for Butterworths Competition Law Service since 2012. I have contributed or co-authored the following industry reports: CBI – 'Shining a light: uncovering the business energy opportunity' (2011); SmartGrid GB – 'Energy Bill 2013: Demand Side Response and the Capacity Market in focus' (2013); EEVS/Bloomberg/Green Investment Bank – 'Energy Efficiency Trends' (quarterly since January 2015); and the Environmental Industries Commission reports entitled 'Smart cities and the Environment' (2015) and 'Energy efficiency in property portfolios' (2016). I co-chair a sustainable smart cities initiative.
