About Me

As an Of Counsel in our Tax Group in The Hague, I combine specialist experience with a pragmatic approach to counselling and negotiations, both nationally and internationally. I have a focus on Canada and work most of my time from Vancouver.

My practice covers a broad range of tax matters, both in the Netherlands and abroad, with a particular focus on international tax planning. I advise regularly on acquisitions, restructurings, real estate funds, and investment and mergers.

In addition, I have substantial experience in real estate transactions including transfer tax issues and telecoms infrastructure, as well as in the tax planning and international structuring of patents and trademarks, including the use of the Dutch 'innovation box'. I am also a capable negotiator with an excellent track record of solving disputes with the Dutch tax authorities.

In terms of my international work, my focus is on Canada. I am a member of our Canada Steering Group and am a regular visitor to the country's West Coast. I also work on behalf of a substantial number of US West Coast clients.

I have written and spoken widely on taxation issues, including international tax. I am a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and several other professional interest groups including the International Fiscal Association. I am a board member of the Dutch/Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
