Tanya Luo

I am a data associate in our Beijing office. My practice focuses on data privacy, cybersecurity, and telecommunications.

I advise a wide range of domestic and foreign clients on data privacy and cybersecurity, such as counselling on compliance obligations, commercial agreements, data compliance due diligence, cross-border data transfer compliance, incident response plans, privacy policies, practical regulatory compliance guidance, and other issues. I have been working with clients across industry sectors, including automobile, finance, insurance, banking, consumption, games, internet technology, and broadcasting, etc. I also have experience assisting clients in e-commerce and telecom matters as well as internal control policies.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked in a leading PRC law firm for around four years, during which I was not only heavily involved in data privacy and cybersecurity projects but conducted a number of in-depth research projects and drafted reports, covering topics such as facial recognition, personalised content, e-commerce, anti-monopoly and anti-unfair competition, etc.

I am fluent in English and Chinese and aspirational in Cantonese.
