Xiaoyu Sun

I am a patent agent at Bird & Bird in Hong Kong, where I advise Chinese companies on overseas intellectual property protection for promoting Chinese companies' overseas development, and advise multinational companies on patent prosecution, infringement risk management and litigation strategy in China.

I provide a wide range of services for clients throughout the patent lifecycle, including advising on R&D direction by using patent intelligence, advising on patent filing strategy and patent prosecution, advising on patent portfolio management strategy, and advising on validity, infringement and essentiality of patents for licensing and enforcement. My experience covers various technology sectors, including but not limited to information and communications, artificial intelligence, automotive and medical devices.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked in both the China Patent Office and multinational IP consulting/management companies in Hong Kong. My appreciation of different culture and my insight of China's IP market enables me to match local needs in China with best IP practice globally.

I am a guest speaker at IP conferences in China. I am fluent in Mandarin, English and Cantonese.
