As a Counsel in our Corporate / M&A Team in Munich, I focus on domestic and international venture capital and venture lending transactions for emerging and high-growth companies.

Our German Corporate/M&A and Venture Capital team, with help from colleagues in Employment, Tech & Comms, and Competition, has advised the Docplanner Group on its acquisition of Munich-based jameda GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Burda Digital SE and the largest healthcare platform in Germany. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The acquisition of jameda, which was finalised on 1 January 2022, is the next step in Docplanner’s growth strategy. Founded in 2012, the global online healthcare marketplace is a leading provider of SaaS solutions for doctors and clinics in several countries, developing apps and software solutions to enable seamless integration of the healthcare system with the patient journey. Docplanner is backed by leading venture capital funds such as Point Nine Capital, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and One Peak Partners and has raised a total of around €300 million to date.

The healthcare platform jameda offers tools for patients to find doctors, share ratings, book appointments and conduct video consultations. As part of the acquisition, Docplanner has announced plans to hire more than 200 new employees and invest more than a quarter of a billion euros in the German market over the next 2-3 years.

Docplanner Group was advised by partner Dr. Stefan Gottgetreu (Düsseldorf), Counsel Andrea Schlote (Munich), both transaction lead, associates Dr. Dominic Poster and Benita Schild (both Düsseldorf), and Marina Dolina (Munich), all Corporate, as well as partner Dr. Martin Nebeling and associate Julia Neuper (both Düsseldorf, Employment), partner Dr. Alexander Duisberg and associate Goekhan Kosak (both Munich, Tech & Comms/Commercial), and partner Dr. Stephan Waldheim and associate Tamy Tietze (both Düsseldorf, Competition).
