Beyond his litigation expertise, David advises boards on proactive compliance and risk management, designs and upgrades, corporate compliance programmes, and conducts internal investigations for proactive remediation. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Financial Crime Litigators.

Evelyn Tjon-En-Fa, co-head of Bird & Bird’s Netherlands offices and co-head of the international Dispute Resolution Group, said: “David's extensive experience in high-profile criminal matters and his deep understanding of compliance challenges make him an invaluable addition to our team. His ability to navigate complex regulatory environments, particularly in areas where criminal law intersects with ESG and technology issues – a core strength of Bird & Bird’s offering, will significantly benefit our clients as we continue building our position as the leading international law firm advising businesses in a world being shaped by regulation.

Additionally, David’s strong leadership and market presence perfectly complements our existing strengths in ESG, technology and cybersecurity. David and Ruben’s joining gives clients access to best-in-class white collar crime and investigations expertise across our global network.”

David, added: “Bird & Bird’s global footprint and One Firm approach align perfectly with how corporate crime matters are evolving - they increasingly require seamless coordination across jurisdictions and practice areas. The firm's established reputation in technology and regulatory matters creates unique opportunities to serve clients who need integrated advice spanning criminal defense, compliance, and risk management. Ruben and I are excited to contribute to this dynamic platform.”

David’s arrival marks the second hire to the Dispute Resolution Group in 2025, following the hire of John Rainbird in August, as part of Bird & Bird's ambitious international growth strategy.
