I am an associate in Bird & Bird's Intellectual Property team in Singapore. My main area of practice encompasses a range of intellectual property work involving the protection, enforcement, exploitation, and disposition of intellectual property and other intangible assets.
I have extensive experience designing and executing solutions, advice, and strategies in matters relating to trade marks and brand management. This includes the management of global trade mark portfolios, as well as the handling of contentious trade marks proceedings. I am also frequently involved in commercial matters involving intellectual property, such as franchising and licensing, as well as legal due diligence concerning intellectual property in merger and acquisition transactions.
Having ran my own e-commerce store for women's apparel as an undergraduate, it has armed me with a realistic appreciation of the workings of intellectual property law in commerce. This has placed me in a particularly advantageous position of appreciating the importance of commercial priorities and business realities when advising clients on the appropriate legal strategy that is not only commercially viable, but tailored to their needs.
Working closely with clients, I help them build a profitable intellectual property portfolio that begins with the development of an effective portfolio management strategy, extending beyond protection to cover monetisation of intellectual property as a business asset through sound and creative means of commercialisation, domestically and internationally.
Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I was in another leading intellectual property law firm in Singapore, assisting an array of clients from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
