As a partner in Bird & Bird's Commercial team and a member of our Media, Entertainment & Sport Group based in London, my practice focuses on regulatory and commercial matters in gambling and sport.
I work closely with my colleagues across Bird & Bird's international offices to provide practical and commercial advice and solutions for clients in the gambling industry, from major listed and unlisted B2B and B2C operators to new market entrants and sophisticated betting syndicates.
In such a rapidly developing industry, we use our combined in-depth knowledge of both the law and the market to help our clients understand risk and navigate new areas of activity. I regularly co-ordinate multi-jurisdictional gambling regulatory advice, and personally advise on British regulatory issues. On the commercial side, I have particular experience advising on white label, software supply, content streaming, hosting, hedging, affiliate and payment processing deals.
On the sports side, I was seconded twice to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), both in the legal team and then in an operational role during London 2012 itself. This gave me an invaluable insight into what it takes to host a major sporting event and the risks and challenges facing not just event organisers, but also sponsors, broadcasters and suppliers.
Now, as part of our industry-leading sports group, I advise major national and international governing bodies and rights holders, teams, broadcasters, agencies and global sports brands on major international sports media rights tenders and licensing, sponsorship, licensing, event staging and supply agreements.
