I am a partner in our Intellectual Property practice based in London, specialising in IP litigation across a range of rights including patents, trade marks, designs and confidential information. I frequently act in complex litigation (often with a cross-border element) and have represented clients before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court and IPEC, and the CJEU, as well as in proceedings before the EUIPO/UKIPO. My clients range from some of the biggest brands in the world through to SMEs, and they operate across a broad spectrum of sectors including Retail & Consumer, Life Sciences and Financial Services.

I am co-head of our International Product Design group, specialising in protecting and enforcing innovative or high tech product design and associated branding. I have extensive experience of advising clients throughout the product lifecycle on many aspects of product design creation, protection and enforcement. This work often relates to products and technologies in areas as diverse as medical devices, mechanical engineering, consumer goods, aviation, automotive and luxury goods, and frequently involves a range of different IP rights.

I also co-lead our International Product Compliance & Liability group, guiding clients through the often complex regulatory regimes for conformity testing, marking, labelling and market surveillance requirements for new products to be lawfully placed on the market in the EU and UK.

I am a member of IP organisations including CITMA, INTA and AIPPI. I also serve on the Enforcement Committee at INTA and the Designs & Copyright Committee of CITMA.

I am recognised among leading directories including Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 (Leading Partner), WIPR UK (Highly Recommended), Managing IP (Trade Mark and Design Star), and WTR 1000 (Silver: Enforcement and litigation).

• Acting for Lidl in its successful trade mark infringement and passing off case against Tesco, in relation to Tesco's use of their Clubcard logo, which was held to be conveying a false price matching message to shoppers. The Court of Appeal decision in this case is one of the leading authorities of unfair advantage trade mark infringement and the use of evidence (including survey evidence) in trade mark cases. We also act for Lidl in the damages inquiry, expected to be one of the largest ever conducted in the UK in a trade mark dispute. • Acting for Dream Pairs in its successful appeal to the UK Supreme Court in its trade mark infringement case against Iconix, owner of the UMBRO brand. The Supreme Court's judgment is the leading authority in the UK on likelihood of confusion infringement, with profound consequences for the scope of trade mark protection and the role of post-sale confusion. • Advising a major international flag carrier airline and tourism authority on their IP portfolio, including managing their international trade mark and design portfolio, and advising on enforcing and protecting their rights both at IPOs and courts around the world. As part of this work, we successfully recovered the Visit[Country].com domain name from a cybersquatter.
• Acting for Betafence/Praesidiad in design invalidity (technical function) and infringement proceedings in relation to its Bekasecure fencing system, before the High Court, Court of Appeal and General Court.
