I work as an associate in in our Sports Group in London, where I help to advise our clients - including governing bodies, event organisers, and their partners - on a variety of sports regulatory matters.
I trained with Bird & Bird and qualified into the Sports Group in 2020. I have experience in advising on regulatory issues across a range of sports including football, rugby union, cricket and biathlon. I have been involved in the drafting of sporting rules and regulations as well as helping with a series of commercially focused matters. I also help to work with clients to resolve disputes encompassing commercial disputes and other regulatory issues.
As part of my training contract, I spent time on secondment with a national sports governing body. While on secondment I worked on a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters. As such, I was able to develop my experience within the industry and gain insight into the commercial and regulatory challenges and opportunities which these bodies encounter daily.
I am closely involved in our Media, Entertainment and Sport sector and am a core member of the MediaWrites editorial team— the Bird & Bird legal news hub for the Media, Entertainment and Sports industries. Working in this way has afforded me a constant awareness of the new and developing issues facing these sectors, and specifically facing the Sports sector, as well as develop close working relationships with lawyers across these areas, both locally and internationally.
