I am an associate in our International Trade & Customs team providing bespoke trade advice for a wide range of clients who have high-profile and challenging trade related matters.
International trade matters can be legally complex and touch several areas of law due to an ever-changing and complicated marketplace. I find it therefore important to have in-depth engrossment in our clients' trade businesses and to identify with their trade interests. For this reason, among others, I am a member of our tech & comms, life science and retail and consumer sector groups.
My practice focuses on economic sanctions, export controls and customs, including free trade agreements. I advise clients across industry sectors not only on acting in compliance with customs, economic sanctions and export controls, but also in the cases when a violation of these regulations has occurred, including criminal enforcement in such cases. As an advocate, I also represent our clients in legal proceedings before Dutch and EU courts.
Having obtained several master's degrees covering company, criminal and tax laws, I have a distinguishing ability to put our clients' (international) trade matters in a broader perspective taking into account the multiple facets of their business.
Before joining Bird & Bird in 2022, I gained professional experience not only at renowned Dutch law firms, but also at the District Court of The Hague as a court clerk.
