Mar Ibáñez

I am a junior lawyer in Bird & Bird's Commercial and Privacy & Data Protection teams in the Madrid office.

I specialised in 2020 in data protection practice, starting my professional career in a similar position in a law firm specialised in IT.

Since March 2022 I joined the Data Protection department of Bird & Bird, where I have the opportunity to work on international projects and clients from a wide range of sectors such as banking, healthcare, education, real estate, etc.

The study of all the new features and aspects of data protection on an international level is a part of my work that allows me to offer comprehensive advice on this matter, regarding any issue that may arise for our clients, providing appropriate solutions to such a changing and necessary sector as Data Protection.

Bird & Bird offers contact with clients from different entities, which allows me to obtain a broad and specialised profile of advice that is adapted to each specific case, from which a comprehensive study of the case is carried out, analysing all possible courses of action and choosing the most suitable for the client's activity and needs.

• I began my professional career in general law firms, which gave me the possibility to learn both on a personal and professional level about client management and to put into practice everything I have acquired during my academic career, which gave me a broad vision of the industry.
• After that experience, in the very beginning of 2021, I started working in the world of new technologies and data protection, a sector in which I am constantly learning and growing every day to offer the best advice to our clients in order for them to achieve their goals.
