I've been involved in the technology and communications sectors for almost two decades, first as a software developer at a multinational technology company, and since 2005 as a lawyer. This gives me a wealth of experience and rare capability to provide advice to clients in industries for which I've had a lifelong passion.
Australia has a well-established, complex telecommunications regulatory regime. Within this regulatory setting, I have provided advice to a wide range of clients, including traditional carriers and carriage service providers.
My knowledge and experience of information technology has allowed me to take a deeply technical view on the application of Australia's telecommunications regulatory regime to the new wave of digital-economy internet based telecommunications products and services, including 'over the top' platforms and virtualised and cloud-hosted telecommunications systems, which are being rapidly developed as alternatives to traditional communications networks and on-premises telephony systems. I enjoy assisting clients to navigate the legal challenges posed by these new technologies.
I have extensive experience assisting our tech industry clients with the negotiation and preparation of a broad range of commercial agreements. As well as advising on the complex issues facing the industry, I've also advised on and prepared responses to government and private sector tenders for technology and related services, drawing upon my industry and legal expertise to help large and complex organisations respond to the dynamic demands of the digital economy.
Fintech is a dynamic new industry, and another area in which I enjoy applying my industry and legal knowledge to deliver commercially pragmatic and technically insightful advice to clients. I have a particular focus on new non-cash payment technologies, and their regulation.
The interplay of law and technology in innovative and emerging areas excites me. It's always rewarding to work with technology and communications clients on challenging and evolving issues, and to help them to deliver their ground-breaking products and services.
