As an experienced corporate transactional lawyer and a partner in our Dutch Corporate Group in Amsterdam, I work across the private and public markets.
I advise on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, public-to-private transactions and other corporate transactions, as well as securities law and financial supervision, corporate governance and general corporate matters.
In addition, I have significant experience in advising issuers and investment banks on equity capital markets transactions, such as securities offerings in the public and private markets, IPOs, private placements, rights issues and block trades.
Project management is crucial to our client service and over the years I have led various multidisciplinary teams on large and complex transactions, both domestically and cross-border.
I have a particular focus on the life sciences sector and in tech & communications and have experience in these sectors. Bird & Bird is one of the world's leading firms in these areas and that expertise, together with our one firm approach internationally, means we can offer great service and consistency on cross-border deals. We use that in-depth knowledge to help our clients understand risk profiles and guide them through a transaction.
I have extensive experience in providing strategic and boardroom advice. Over the years, I have been Corporate Secretary at two listed companies, including a listed life sciences company. Consequently, I know the 'inner workings' of listed companies, which I consider a great benefit when advising my clients.
I frequently teach courses and give training sessions.
Besides a Master of Laws from Leiden University, I hold a Master's in International Finance from Amsterdam Business School / University of Amsterdam. The financial acumen that I acquired as a consequence greatly contributes to my ability to effectively assist my clients on their transactions, because being a good transactional lawyer not only requires excellent legal knowledge but also a high degree of financial literacy.
