Pierre Verbays

As an associate in our Corporate and M&A team in Brussels, I assist and advise national and international clients on general corporate matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions.

I advise and represent clients on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions as well as on general corporate law matters. In these fields, I regularly assist international groups of companies, private equity funds and local medium-sized companies in various industry sectors.

Through deep understanding of clients' businesses and strategic goals, I provide pragmatic, tailored advice that safeguards them from legal risks whilst championing their success.

After graduating with a Master of Laws in Economic Law from the Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles), I pursued a Specialized Master in European Law at the same university.

I chose to become a lawyer because I have always had a strong sense of justice and a genuine motivation to ensure that situations are handled fairly and thoughtfully. I am naturally drawn to understanding different perspectives and helping find balanced outcomes, especially when stakes are high.

What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to work on complex problems that require both rigorous analysis and creativity. Each matter presents its own challenges, and I find it very rewarding to dissect intricate situations, identify the key issues, and build practical solutions that truly help clients move forward. The combination of intellectual challenge and the ability to make a tangible difference is what makes this profession particularly meaningful to me.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in September 2022, I worked as an associate in a law firm based in Brussels, where I gained valuable experience in corporate and business law.
