About Me

Ronald is a Partner in Bird & Bird's Commercial Department in London and specialises in IT and communications projects, supporting clients in the public and private sector with their innovation projects. Ronald is co-head of Bird & Bird's global Tech & Comms group and a board member of Oxygy, the management consulting firm offering a multi-disciplinary offering with Bird & Bird.

I am particularly interested in the adoption of connectivity to invent, improve and transform products, businesses and our cities for example.

I previously worked on national programmes for the implementation of IT in the NHS and the adoption of smart metering in Britain and currently support a number of clients with their procurement/development of connected technology solutions.

Examples include the procurement of 5G networks and supporting clients with the investment in, or operation of fibre-networks and data centres. In addition I work with clients on the development of products and (IoT) solutions for the energy, manufacturing and aviation industries, looking at the connectivity components as well as the data and artificial intelligence issues that arise when they develop new business opportunities around all those newly connected devices and services.

Before I joined Bird & Bird in London I qualified as a lawyer in the Netherlands and whilst I no longer practice Dutch law, I continue to regularly work in our Dutch offices and spend a lot of time working with my colleagues internationally to help our clients with their cross-border technology projects.
