As an associate in our Regulatory and Competition & EU Law team in The Hague, I advise on a wide range of regulatory matters and EU law, with an emphasis on sustainability, including ESG, Energy, and Environmental Law.

Advising on regulatory matters in the Netherlands requires an in-depth knowledge of both EU law in general as well as on specific EU sector regulation, but also on the relevant areas of national law that are affected by it.

As a lawyer with a comprehensive background, including a Master's in Dutch Law and a Master's in EU Law, my expertise lies at the interface between general EU law principles, specific EU regulations, and Dutch (administrative) law My unique interdisciplinary perspective on law stems from my educational background as a veterinary assistant and my focus on legal history during my studies.

Here at Bird & Bird, I provide practical and concrete advice on various regulatory matters to both our clients and my colleagues, focusing particularly on ESG, Energy, and Environmental Law. As a valued member of Bird & Bird's ESG advisory group, I have advised on various ESG and sustainability topics, including the CSRD, SUP-Directive, Deforestation Regulation, Packaging and Packaging Regulation, Green Claims, and the upcoming CSDDD. Additionally, I offer advice on matters relating to both general administrative (procedural) law, and planning and zoning law as well as EU Regulatory Law. My regulatory experience is based on several types of M&A and finance transactions in the field of data centers and renewable energy (including solar, battery storage, geothermal, battery storage, and green gas installations).

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as a lawyer at a boutique law firm in Amsterdam that specializes in energy law and transactions within the energy sector. Additionally, I also provided guest lectures on EU law at an University of Applied Science in Law. Furthermore, I am consulted on matters regarding EU animal welfare law.

I feel very privileged that, as a lawyer, I can take part in facilitating energy transitions on behalf of our clients and help them achieve their sustainability ambitions.

Furthermore, I am a member of the Dutch Energy Law Association (NeVER), The Environmental Law Association (VMR), the Dutch Association for European Law (NVER), the Dutch Competition Law Association (VvM), and the Law for Climate Association.
