Yuka Yamada

I am a corporate counsel based in our Tokyo office. I advise clients on cross-border corporate matters such as M&A, JV and the establishment of subsidiaries in a variety of sectors, notably across technology and communications, energy and utilities and automotive.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I gained valuable legal experience, including extensive work on large-scale investment projects and major transactions at a major U.S. law firm and a leading Japanese trading company (sogo shosha), where I was also stationed in London. This international experience has given me deep familiarity with both Japanese and British business cultures and practices.

This legal background, combined with my long-standing involvement in the German automotive industry, has provided me with deep expertise in automotive-related legal matters, industry-specific regulatory issues, and legal considerations when dealing with European companies, including GDPR compliance.

I also provide a wide range of day-to-day legal advice to Japanese clients, including general contract reviews, compliance advice (data protection, anti-bribery, competition, and regulatory matters), dispute resolutions and employment matters.
