European Electronic Communications Code aims to boost connectivity and competitiveness with the roll-out of very high capacity networks in a 5G era

On 17 December 2018 the European Electronic Communications Code ("the Code") was published in the Official Journal. This revision of the EU framework for telecoms regulation marks the end of a long negotiation process and puts in place one of the essential building blocks for a Digital Single Market in Europe.

Member States have until 21 December 2020 to transpose the new rules into national law.
