Coming approximately a month after the European Commission issued its annual Delegated Regulations updating public contract thresholds, the UK, for the first time under the Procurement Act 2023, will introduce new public procurement thresholds applicable to UK public procurements.[1] The regular update of thresholds is intended to better reflect currency and price fluctuations and maintain compliance with the World Trade Organisation’s Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA).

The European Commission has decided to take Germany to the Court of Justice of the European Union because the Federal Republic of Germany has not properly transposed EU directives on public procurement into national law. The proceedings relate to Directives 2014/24/EU and 2014/23/EU and represent a significant step in the infringement proceedings.
