Bird & Bird appoints Corporate/M&A partner in Frankfurt

International law firm Bird & Bird LLP welcomes Corporate/M&A lawyer Dr Clemens Maschke as a partner in its Frankfurt office on 1 January 2026. He will be joined by Counsel Lieor Koblenz.

Clemens Maschke comes from Dentons, where he has worked since 2017 and was appointed partner in 2019. With over 20 years of professional experience, he is a proven specialist in emerging markets and has successfully advised and supported a large number of national and international clients in M&A transactions.

He specialises in complex joint venture structuring and corporate restructuring, as well as corporate and distribution law issues, with a sector focus on automotive, media and tech & comms. In addition to general corporate law advice, his focus of corporate/compliance advice is on supporting globally active companies in managing and monitoring their worldwide investments, conducting global compliance due diligence and implementing corporate law measures globally, e.g. post-merger integration processes.

Dr Stefanie Orttmann, LL.M., Head of the German Corporate Practice, says: “In an increasingly complex international business environment, Clemens brings exactly the expertise that our clients value when working with Bird & Bird. His specialisation in emerging markets and complex joint venture structures fit perfectly with our integrated cross-country and cross-sector advisory approach. We are very much looking forward to working with him.”

Dr Uwe Lüken, Managing Partner of Bird & Bird in Germany, adds: “Clemens' experience in emerging markets, coupled with his expertise for multinational companies facing an increasingly difficult international business environment due to complex and constantly changing geopolitical risks, is an ideal fit for us as a law firm for all legal issues relating to technology, digitalisation and regulation. We are very pleased to welcome him and Lieor to the team.”

Dr Clemens Maschke adds: “I am delighted to be part of such an innovative and forward-looking law firm. Bird & Bird has an excellent reputation in the technology sector, and its sector-specific approach and international positioning are a perfect fit for my practice. I can't wait to build on the obvious strengths of the existing team and contribute to the firm's continued success by offering innovative and client-focused solutions.”
