Gábor Kutai

I am a senior associate in the Competition & EU team of the Budapest office, offering full range of competition law services to our clients both at Hungarian and EU level.

I have more than 10 years' experience specializing in Hungarian and EU competition law advising clients at all stages of cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases as well as comparative advertising and consumer protection cases in front of the Hungarian Competition Authority. I also have extensive experience advising clients under the Hungarian merger control regime and EU Merger Regulation in complex domestic and cross-border merger clearance procedures.

Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience in competition law related litigation, state aid matters and foreign subsidy regulation. I also assist clients with the competition law aspects of horizontal and vertical commercial agreements, data screening process, internal investigations and compliance matters.

What I enjoy the most working as a competition lawyer is that with every new case comes the opportunity of learning and understanding the characteristics and dynamics of a new industry sector, which is essential for proper legal advice and makes our work truly interesting and diverse.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked several years at the Competition Law practice group of another leading international law firm in Budapest and was seconded to GE Healthcare in London for six months.

I am fluent in English, in addition to my native Hungarian.
