I am a brand protection lawyer in the London Intellectual Property team. I help clients build, exploit, enforce and rationalise portfolios of trade mark and design rights around the world. I also handle related disputes and contentious proceedings.
I am a senior associate and trade mark attorney with over 12 years' experience in IP and brand protection. I joined the team in 2019, having worked previously at a combination of law firms and patent attorneys since 2012, and with some in-house experience in 2011.
In terms of my day-to-day work, I advise clients on all aspects of trade marks and designs. This includes the adoption of new trade marks and designs, clearing them for use in the marketplace, selecting the most suitable registration systems and handling any disputes that may occur, whether opposition or invalidity/cancellation actions, bad faith proceedings, infringement, or related settlements. It also covers enforcement of IP rights in the UK, Europe and in most other territories globally, particularly the US, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. I have advised all types of clients in a range of sectors including food and beverages, financial services, retail, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, fashion, transport, energy, and entertainment.
I regularly write on Intellectual Property matters as an author and co-editor of 'The CITMA & CIPA Trade Mark Handbook' published by Sweet & Maxwell, and also as a co-editor of 'Contentious Trade Mark Registry Proceedings' (volumes 1 and 2) and 'Anti-Counterfeiting Practice and Procedure'. I am also part of the team for the Bird & Bird BrandWrites online publication, sit on CITMA's Publications Committee, am a member the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group and a case volunteer at the IP ProBono Scheme.
