I am an associate in our Intellectual Property Group based in London, focusing on contentious matters. My practice encompasses a number of sectors including Media, Entertainment and Sport, Retail and Consumer, and Technology and Communications.
I have experience acting for clients across a broad range of IP rights, with a particular emphasis on soft IP – copyright, designs, trade marks and trade secrets, as well as areas of defamation and reputation management. I have worked on litigation in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court, including litigating a major test case in the field of copyright, hyperlinking and the communication to the public right.
I have a particular interest in the MES sector, having previously worked for a number of years for one of the "big three" record labels. This experience has given me a keen understanding of the business needs of organisations navigating the challenges of the digital landscape. This commercial understanding is something I bring to my work with clients from both a rights holder and user perspective. As part of a truly international firm, I am also involved in the coordination and management international enforcement projects in the gaming sector.
I am Co-Editor in Chief of MediaWrites, the firm's MES news hub and a contributor to the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorney (CIPA) Journal. I have also contributed to a number of books and journal publications.
