International law firm Bird & Bird is delighted to announce that renowned patent law expert Dr. Anna Wolters-Höhne will be returning to the firm as a partner at its Hamburg office on July 7, 2025.

Dr. Anna Wolters-Höhne previously worked as a patent litigator at Bird & Bird from 2004 to 2021, becoming a partner in 2012. Most recently, she practiced as a partner at Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP in Hamburg from 2023 to 2024.

Her 20 years of expertise in leading and coordinating major international patent cases includes patent infringement proceedings, patent damage claims, compulsory licensing proceedings, and nullity actions before national courts, as well as advising on opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the UPC. Throughout her career, Dr. Wolters-Höhne has gained many years of litigation experience and represented clients in numerous landmark preliminary injunction proceedings, among other things. Proceedings in the life sciences sector are an important focus of her work.

Dr. Uwe Lüken, Head of Country at Bird & Bird in Germany, comments: "We are delighted that Anna is returning to us. Our market-leading patent litigation team is growing organically with our own people. Anna's return confirms this rule, our strategy, and our culture. Welcome back, Anna!“

Christian Harmsen, Head of IP at Bird & Bird in Germany, adds: “As one of the leading law firms in patent infringement proceedings before the UPC and national courts, we rely on a large number of strong teams. Anna's return therefore represents an important strategic reinforcement, having previously expanded our partnership on the legal side with the internal promotions of Dr. Annika Lückemann and Dr. Moritz Schroeder. With Anna, we can now offer our clients another experienced and highly competent partner for patent infringement proceedings."

Dr. Anna Wolters-Höhne comments: "I am excited to be returning to Bird & Bird – a firm that I consider my home base, both professionally and personally.
