Esme Strathcole

I am a senior associate in the Commercial team in London, advising on strategic commercial arrangements and complex technology contracts with a particular focus on the music, media and retail sectors.

My practice includes advising on technology contracts such as those relating to software development, licensing and support, cloud/SaaS, emerging technologies and commercial data exploitation. I support clients with individual transactions and complex transformational projects.

I have completed several secondments to clients in the music and retail industries, leading on key commercial projects.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I also worked in-house at one of the 'Big Three' record labels, negotiating artist recording agreements, producer agreements, publishing agreements and content licences. This experience has given me valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities of organisations navigating an evolving digital landscape.

My extensive in-house experience means I focus on providing pragmatic, user-friendly legal advice that is responsive to clients' commercial priorities.
