Katrina Baxter de Almeida

I am a senior associate in our Commercial Group in London, advising clients across a wide range of industries on complex technology matters, from cloud-based service arrangements to large-scale technology outsourcings.

I have extensive experience drafting and negotiating a variety of technology contracts, including SaaS agreements, software licences, data licences and general services agreements. I also advise on major IT projects for both suppliers and customers, with a particular focus on strategic and transformational initiatives in the technology, retail and financial services sectors.

I also assist clients in developing practical contracting tools, including bespoke templates and playbooks. From a project management perspective, I have led on sizeable outsourcing projects and frequently assist our corporate department with large due diligence exercises, ensuring effective coordination, clear reporting and timely delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

During my time at Bird & Bird I have completed full-time secondments to two large international banks and provided support on a virtual secondment basis to a global software company and the largest fast-food chain in the world, advising on a broad spectrum of technology matters. As such, I fully appreciate the importance of delivering pragmatic and practical advice in tune with our client's commercial drivers.

I have a particular interest in data and emerging technologies and regularly work with our IP specialists on such matters with a growing focus on the legal, contractual and regulatory considerations surrounding AI.

I trained with Bird & Bird in 2017 and qualified in 2019.
